LASER Airlines temporarily suspends its Curaçao flights until August 31

Published Updated · 3 min read

Re-verified on August 10, 2026. The suspension remains in force and its end date is still set for August 31, 2026. LASER Airlines has not announced a resumption of the route or an extension of the measure. The rebooking, destination-change, and refund options described below remain the applicable ones.

LASER Airlines announced the temporary suspension of its flights to and from Curaçao, in effect until August 31, 2026, as reported by the airline through its official account @laserairlinesoficial. The measure comes with alternatives for passengers whose flights were scheduled between June 30 and August 31, 2026.

Context: LASER's international connectivity after the earthquakes

This suspension comes amid the operational recovery process LASER Airlines has been carrying out since the June 24, 2026 earthquakes, which affected Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía. Following the earthquakes, the airline conducted a thorough inspection of its fleet and worked in stages to restore its international connections — Madrid, Bogotá, Santo Domingo, and Curaçao — along with its domestic network. In that process, LASER reactivated its Miami route from José Antonio Anzoátegui Airport in Barcelona on July 2, and added routes to Madrid, Bogotá, and Santo Domingo from that same terminal starting July 8.

Curaçao: a route with a history of suspensions

The Caracas–Curaçao connection has been one of LASER's oldest international routes, traditionally operated with McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft. The route had already gone through a years-long suspension due to regional border restrictions before reactivating in 2023. This new pause, tied to the national contingency context, adds to that history of intermittent interruptions on the corridor between Venezuela and the Caribbean island.

Alternatives for affected passengers

According to the airline, passengers with flights scheduled between June 30 and August 31, 2026 have alternatives available to manage their trip. We recommend contacting LASER Airlines directly through its official channels (WhatsApp or the phone customer service center) to learn about the specific options available for your booking, as conditions may vary depending on the date and ticket type.
